Years ago when you hired a DJ for a wedding you got someone sitting at a turntable spinning tunes one after the other, often with some inane patter in between songs and little else. And back then the music was on vinyl records, thus the word disc. The term "disc jockey" was actually coined by radio commentator and journalist, Walter Winchell back in the 1930s.
In the 1950s the two-turntable system evolved, bringing loud PA systems to dances and parties. In the mid 1960s the discotheque, or "disco" as it was quickly termed, was born, introducing nightclubs where disc jockeys would play the music of the day, mixing it to create seamless transitions between records or holding a record still while the turntable was revolving underneath, then releasing it at the desired moment to create a sudden transition from the previous record.
The 1990s significantly changed dance music and the image of the DJ with the introduction of the MP3 and the complete revolution of digital music.
Now fast forward to 2015 where in many cases you still have someone sitting at perhaps a more sophisticated board, mixing CD after CD digitally with still some inane patter in between songs and little else. He or she sits at the wedding or party with that expressionless face; they've been there, done that before, and they're bored. And boring to you and your guests. They're just not that into it, and that attitude can break a party unless...unless you've taken the best step in today's wedding entertainment and booked Rico Entertainment.
Rico Lopez doesn't sit at a board; matter of fact, Rico doesn't sit down! That's what makes Rico Entertainment a preferred vendor recommended by some of the best high end venues in the Northeast and arguably the most in demand entertainment company for weddings and special events in Connecticut, New York City, Newport, Massachusetts, and everywhere there are upscale venues hosting equally upscale weddings and events.
With over 18 years in the entertainment field there is nothing -absolutely nothing- Rico Entertainment cannot provide from DJs to bands to orchestras to impersonators, and more. And what is the "more" in wedding entertainment today? It's not enough just to play and mix the music anymore; Rico Entertainment wants to light every event in a special way that enhances the sound and makes the occasion something the wedding party and their guests will long remember. Through full event uplighting, Rico can provide mood lighting in a specific color to match the wedding decor.

Rico additionally provides a sound system for outdoor ceremonies that offers flawless sound quality, perfect for videotaping.
When a couple hires Rico Entertainment for their wedding they are hiring a company that has everything onboard to "manage" that wedding. "We can do everything," says Rico Lopez with pride. It is not false pride, but pride based on years of experience and thousands of happy clients. "We can provide, if they wish, the photographer, videographer, even the wildly popular photo booth." But in true Rico Entertainment style they have taken all this to the next level. "Yes, we can give them an enclosed traditional photo booth which is a lot of fun," but we can also create a red carpet event, having the couple and their guests walk a red carpet and film everything with a custom backdrop. Very special... and this will insure a party their guests will talk about for years to come."
